Taylor
Taylor Swift may be the most rare of all pop stars: an artist capable of effectively bridge the gap between country and pop, conquering the globe. Swift has thrown off her country roots as if they were second skins, revealing herself to be the smartest pop singer/songwriter of her time. She has the ability to harness the current zeitgeist and turn it into her personal. It was apparent in her early songs, particularly in her neo homage to Tim McGraw. On her album Fearless (2008), Swift revealed a singer/songwriter who was beginning to know herself. The album was able to have significant legs not only on the U.S. where it racked seven platinum singles thanks to Top Ten hits Love Story and the hit single You Belong with Me but throughout the globe, performing especially well within the U.K. Canada and Australia. Swift's new album, Speak Now, released almost two years after the previous one, built on this success. It helped propel Swift into the spotlight. Through her next three albums, Red (2012) 1989 (2004) and Reputation (2017) and Reputation, the popularity of Swift grew, and she became part of the world of pop music with a clear sense of where she was a part of. Even when she scaled back her style with the 2020's stripped-down sister album folklore, and Evermore she was still atop the world of pop, a position she maintained with re-recordings of her earlier catalog, as well as Midnights the top charting synth heavy 2022 set.
