Lee Roy Selmon has a background that is a combination of family scholarships football and volunteering for the community. First family, he's the youngest of the nine children of Lucious and Jessie Selmon. The family lived on a farm in Eufala, Oklahoma. Two, football. He was one of three brothers who were players for Oklahoma. All three made All-America. The year 1973 was the first time Lee Roy and Lucious Jr. Dewey were the players for one season. Lee Roy has won both the Outland Award and the Lombardi Award for being the best lineman in the country. In three years, Oklahoma was 32-1-1 with Roy as the starter. They also won two national championships. As a National Football Foundation Scholarship-Athlete, Selmon was given the opportunity to receive a scholarship in his third season in 1975. Selmon earned a degree from the university of California in Berkeley. Lee Roy spent ten hours a week on volunteer work during his college years. Then he settled in Tampa after graduation, and playing for the Buccaneers for nine seasons and made three times all-pro. His career in business began. In 1988, he began working as an Account Relations Officer for First Florida Bank in Tampa. He worked for the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute and the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. He was no surprise that In 1982, The Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy among the top ten outstanding young people across the nation. Lee Roy weighed 256 lbs and stood at a height of 6-2. In his time at college, he commanded the 1975 team. In 1993, Roy was a part of the University of South Florida's athletic department as assistant director. He was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame through his fellow members of the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame of 1994 and the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. In 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation presented its Distinguished American Award, to Mr. Lucious Selmon and his wife. Henry Bellmon the Governor of Oklahoma was the person who presented the award.
